OLED Research
Objective![]() The focus of the activity in Organic Light Emitting Diodes at LBNL is the development of a fundamental understanding of the charge transport phenomena between the interface of the electrode and the organic materials to aid the development of this emerging technology for application to general illumination. The understanding of these interfaces and the improvement in the efficiency for transport processes is paramount to improving the overall efficiency and lifetime of OLED devices. The role of impurities in the device materials and degradation reaction products is not well understood. The development of effective methods of device analysis is the focus of this effort.
